FOTD - Wet 'n' Wild Comfort Zone

My face of the day using Wet 'N' Wild's 'Comfort Zone' pallet on my eyes.  These shadows are so pigmented and lovely and soft.  They are all shimmery, which I like but if you aren't a fan they may not be for you.  They can be worn intensly or used sparingly as a soft wash of colour.

** That is a scar on the lower right eye as you look at the pics (not stray eyeliner :P)

With and Without Glasses

Focus on the eye; I used Maybellines 'On and On Bronze' as a base.
In the corner to the middle I used the 'eyelid' shade on the left of the WnW pallet
Followed by the left 'definer' shader on the outer eyelid blended inwards.
Next I blended up and highlight under brow with the 'browbone' shade on the right hand side of the pallet.
I lined top and bottom water line with Urban Decay Demolition pencil and did my upper liner with L'oreal Superliner

My Brows are filled using an angled brush and a mix of 'Naked 2'and 'Crave' from the UD Naked Basics Pallet. Then I went over them with MeMeMe's 'Arch Angel' Brow gel to add texture.

On my lashes I've got the Eyeko Skinny Brush Mascara

For my base I primed with Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer.  Covered redness with Vichy Dermablend Foundation Stick.  My foundation is the Bourjois Healthy Mix in Vanilla Clair. My undereye concealer is the Rimmel 'Wake me Up' in Ivory 10.

You can find Wet n Wild & Catrice Cosmetics in Ireland in Penny's and various Pharmacies.  Look out for MeMeMe in your local Chemist too :)

Until next time,

Aishling's July Empties

I'm going to start with two products I've had featured in an empties post before. They are the Lee Stafford Treatment For Hair That Never Grows Past A Certain Length and No.7's Essential Moisture Day Cream. The hair treatment is not only good if you want your hair to grow out but as a conditioner on it's own it's amazing! The moisturiser is my go to one that I've been using for years now and if you want to know more about both products head over to my June Empties post where I talk about them a bit more.

On the left we have Garnier's Eye Make-Up Remover. Now we all know I don't have great things to say about the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water which I also reviewed in my June Empties, I can't say I'm a fan and won't be purchasing it again if I can. But this Eye Make-Up Remover from them is actually a lot better. It's great at removing waterproof mascara and gets nearly every bit off. It does say non greasy but I do get some kind of residue afterwards but it doesn't matter to me cos I wash my face after anyhow. But over all I do really like this. The only thing I dislike about it is the size. It's very small and even for the price too. If it's on offer I will be purchasing again.

On the right is Aussie's Colour Mate Shampoo. Now I think way back in one of my YouTube Empties video's I talk about how I don't like Aussie and how it stops working for me after awhile. While I still believe that, buying it after not using it for so long, really showed me how great this shampoo is while it lasts. It leaves my hair so soft and less frizzy and helps slightly to keep my colour lasting a bit longer. It will soon lose its touch though and then I'll be sad.

On the left is Garnier Mineral InvisiCool 48hr Anti-Perspirant which was recommended by Kerrie in one of our Empties videos as well haha! I'm being very repetitive, sorry about that :P But this is a great deodorant! It doesn't leave any white marks and even in this crazy heat we've gotten in Ireland lately it lasts so long, even to the next day! Top marks from me!

On the right is Vichy Normaderm Toner which I wish wasn't here but unfortunately silly Steve left it in a bag with the top open and most of it spilled out! We have a little left but I thought I'd include it in this empties anyhow. It's a great toner and you can really feel it working and tightening without drying the hell out of your face.

***

That's all this months empties! Sorry about the repeat products but I thought I'd include them again in case you guys missed my last empties or haven't seen any of our YouTube videos!

More posts coming soon! Until then, let me know what you've used up recently! :D

Aishling's FOTD #2

This is a look I've been going for a lot recently. I used to go for very colourful looks but I'm liking more neutral colours right now, like this FOTD! I also think I'm repeating myself cos I feel like I said this in my last FOTD. Oh well :P

Face: I prime my face with the Rimmel Stay Matte Primer which even though I have dry skin actually helps prevent dry patches oddly!

I then use Vichy Dermablend Ultra-Corrective Foundation Cream-Stick for all my redness. I have extreme redness all over my face. The only place I don't really have it is my forehead. So I have to use a good concealer under my foundation to get rid of as much redness as I can. I have to laugh at some people who say they have redness when they mostly have super pale faces with little red patches. You know nothing! :P This concealer is really good though, it has amazing coverage but still somehow manages to be so lightweight and does not make my skin really heavy or feel like I have anything under my foundation at all. The only negative thing it's done for me was show up pores for some reason. I thought being advertised the way it was, it would really know how to cover lumps and bumps but anyhow once you put your foundation over it that disappears. I've also never had any breakouts from this concealer or enlarged pores or anything like that. It's super good overall.

I then use my Revlon ColorStay Foundation for Normal/Dry Skin in 110 Ivory all over and I don't even have to use that much of it either because the Vichy concealer has done most of the job.

After that I just used my *NYX HD Photogenic Concealer in CW01 Porcelain for under my eyes. This concealer isn't great. I had to stop using the Collection concealer because it's so dry and shows up my lines under my eyes soooo badly. Unfortunately, I bought this NYX one hoping it would be better but its actually quite the same as the Collection one. So I am on the look out for a great coverage concealer for under the eyes that doesn't show up lines. If anyone has any recommendations (Cheap or pricey) let me know! A positive on this concealer though, it's great at brightening and highlighting especially along the brow bone.

Brush: I've always just used my fingers to put on my foundation but I stole Kerrie's Real Techniques Buffing Brush and gave it a go and can't believe how awesome it was! It cut my foundation routine length in half, actually not even in half, more like it takes no time whatsoever! I really really have to get myself some Real Techniques brushes myself. It also puts much more fun into doing your makeup because you can spend more time doing the rest of your face. I find I'm doing my winged eyeliner great now because I'm not so wore out from blending in my foundation with my hands!

I contoured with the awesome Real Techniques Contour Brush and MeMeMe Shimmer Stack in Bronze using the darkest colour. It has a nice shimmer but not too much.

Eyebrows: I have very dark brows. They're pretty much black. I use the blackest eyeshadow I have for them. So in steps the amazing HB Brows Vamp Palette which I also stole from Kerrie haha! :D The colour carbon is my colour. Don't get me wrong I love jet black eyebrows and will rock them whenever I can but HB's Carbon is a perfect match for my eyebrows. Well close to it anyhow :P I don't think Carbon is jet black but its not very brown either, it's just really nice dark natural colour for my brows.

Eyes:
Base: For the base I used Maybelline's Colour Tattoo in On and On Bronze which I use lots as a base and just a colour on its own! It's amazing!

I then put Revlon Colorstay 16 Hour Eyeshadow "Adventurous" Number 4 into the outer corners and along the bottom lash line but then I decided it wasn't dark enough so I put some of Rimmel's Matte Eyeshadow in Jet Black over it.

Lastly I pressed some of Number 2 from the Revlon "Adventurous" Palette which is a beautiful gold leaf kind of colour into the middle of both my eyelids.

I tightlined with Rimmel's Soft Kohl Eyeliner Pencil in Jet Black and then on my waterline I put *NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk which didn't last too long in the end but I did like how it looked before it disappeared! I will soon have to get a Kohl white eyeliner.

My winged eyeliner was done with *Wet N' Wilds Mega Liquid Liner in Black which is an amazing liquid eyeliner especially for the price! It's nice and short so you can hold it close to your eyes which I think makes it easier to get a precise application.

I then finished off the eye look with some mascara. At the moment I'm using Eyeko Lengthening Skinny Brush Mascara which I like lots and has lasted me so long!

I hope you liked this simple look and let me know in the comments below!
I'd also love to know what your favourite concealers are, as I said, I'm on the look out for a new one!

*NYX has just arrive in Ireland and you can find the list of stockists here. Wet N' Wild is available in Dunnes Stores and a lot Pharmacies in Ireland.

Day 2 - Favourite SF/Fantasy Novel for World UFO Day

  • This needs no explaination :)

Day 3 - Favourite Novel In Translation
  • A classic and certainly a recommended read.

Day 4 - All Time Favourite American Novel

  • Sylvia Plath the Bell Jar.  A tough read but something that will stay with you forever after.

Day 5 - Most Delicious Novel About Food

  • Oh delicous chocolate and sweeties, who didn't want to try all of the things in this book when they were a kid? (and an adult :P)

Day 6 - Which Book Will You Put Down Today To Watch The Wimbledon Tennis Final

  • Noel Browne's Against The Tide was the book I was reading at the time, I did watch the wimbledon final!

Day 7 - Most Chocolatey Novel

  • I've used up my chocolate on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, I don't think you can get much more chocolatey*...
 *matilda!

Day 8 - Favourite Great War Novel

  • I haven't read a Great War Novel but i'll pass you over to my boyfriend for his choice - Sebastian Barry's A Long Long Way (which I intend to read myself).  He says; "This book sheds some new light on the plight of Irish men in the British Army and really brought home the true horror of life in the trenches, I wasn't expecting much from it but it was absoutly superb."

Day 9 - Most Irritating Character in A Novel

  • For me it's the title character in The Diceman, I didn't hate hate hate this book but I found it supremely irritating. It's an interesting idea but I wish Luke Rhienhart was killed off on the first page!

Day 10 - Novel with most memorable Picnic

  • Nope, nothing for this one, sorry!

Day 11 - The Book That Made You Cry

  • The only book that made me cry.  DAMN THOSE BEES!

Day 12 - Novel That Best Conjured A Place For You

  • That is certainly That They May Face The Rising Sun, it captures rural Ireland perfectly particularly the Leitrim area.  I'd also give a shout out to Colm Tobin all of his novels have been so well described that I can picture the people and places.

Day 13 - Best Title For A Novel

  • For me it's yet again 'That They May Face The Rising Sun', it just goes to show just how many things I love this book.   I think it's a very poignent moment in the book when the title is explained.  Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep is a great title too ;)

Day 14 - Your Favourite Novel About or Set in France

  • A nice read not too heavy in tone and captures the atmosphere and life in Paris in the 20's very well

Day 15 - Lucky Dip! The Theme Chosen was 'The last book you bought'

  • I actually bought  a few books together, they were Russel Brand's My Booky Wook, The Hours by Michael Cunningham and The Secret Self ; short stories by women  by Hermonie Lee.  And all for only €1.50 at a local market!  WOOP for BOOKS!

Thanks for reading, Part 2 coming soon!

Movies I've Watched in July 2014

I don't have much to put into a Month in Review so I decided just to do a movie post seeing as Steve and I watched so many films in the month of July. We re-watched a lot of our favourites but there is some new films in there too. Enjoy!

The Warriors - "Set in New York in 1979, street gangs are gathered together by their leader who is then shot. The Warriors are falsely blamed and most make their way back home without being killed by the street gangs out looking for them.

We actually watched this in June but I forgot to added it to June in Review. I had never seen The Warriors until then and I'm sorry I didn't see it sooner. Really enjoyed it and I can see why people go on about it. I must get a Warriors jacket.

Leon - "Leon, a professional hitman helps a young girl who's family was murdered."

A classic and a must see. Even after all these years it is so so good. Natalie Portman is amazing in this and Gary Oldman is just crazy, crazy, crazy fantastic.

Fancy bitches.
The Three Musketeers (2011) - "I think everyone knows The Three Musketeer story, D'Artagnan arrives in Paris to join the Musketeers and stuff and tangs happen."

This film is terrible. I love The Three Musketeers. I have seen all the films (The most known ones anyhow, 1948, 1973, 1994) and I love them all so much so when I heard it was being remade I really wasn't very excited. I didn't go see it in the cinema especially after going to another film and having to sit through THE ENTIRE Take That shit ass video of a song that's at the end of the movie. So as you can tell, we got off to a bad start. Even Christoph Waltz couldn't save it. What was he thinking. If I had to say one good thing about it that would be the filming locations. It looked stunning but failed in every other way.

You know my feels.
Halloweentown - "Three kids follow their grandmother to Halloweentown.

I watched this a few years ago on tv and have been meaning to watch it since. It is a made for tv film and is oh so terrible but oh so good! :D Especially if you're a lover of all things Halloween, like me!

A Knights Tale - "A peasant passes himself off as a Knight with the help of his friends so he can joust."

I have seen this many times but still love it. I actually have it on VHS somewhere. I really like how they add in some modern touches ("We Will Rock You" "Golden Years") and it has some pretty funny parts in it too!

Snowpiercer - "Set in the future when our climate on Earth has failed us and killed mostly everyone off except for a lucky few who managed to board a train that travels around the world. Every carriage has a different class system with the poor living in the tail end who have enough of the privileged peoples shit."

This is probably one of my favourite movies of the year. It is just excellent. It does have some plot holes but it's such an original story on top of the fact there is mix cultures shown in this. A strong black woman is one of the main characters, women are treated equal and not sexually abused like in every film ever that is in anyway similar to this, which is a big surprise and a huge relief if you're a woman watching it. Highly recommend!

This photo is why the internet exists.
Tango & Cash - "Kurt Russell and Sylvester Stallone hate each other but are framed for a murder and have to work together, OH NO!"

Cheesy, 80s, action movie that everyone should watch just to see Kurt Russell dressed as a very attractive lady.

"But but... Jamie Oliver, you're my friend!"
Jack The Giant Slayer - "A gateway to a world of giants is reopened by Jack (Nicholas Hoult) because he's an eejit who can't handle his beans so Ewan McGregor has to help."

The more I think about it, the more I realise I quite liked this film! It's fun and entertaining. Nothing amazing but not as terrible as everyone says. Also I don't usually like Ewan McGregor but he was ok in this and has a twisty moustache.

Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes - "James Franco creates an experimental drug to help the brain fix itself. When it is tested on an Ape, the Ape gives birth to a cute little other Ape who gets very smart and stuff so he adopts it and stuff and tangs happen."

I seen this in the cinema when it first came out but Steve had never seen it so we watched it. The first time I saw it I didn't like it at all. It left me with a, not so nice feeling I guess? Like, I couldn't sympathise with the Apes. On second viewing I have to say I enjoyed it a lot more. I sympathise with the Apes a bit more now, maybe because I don't like people so much now haha! But I also realised, as far as origin stories goes, this is one of the best I've seen.

Maleficent - "A fairy takes revenge on the man she loves by cursing his baby Aurora. Maleficent watches Aurora as she grows up and starts to feel a little less angry with everything."

This was a surprising one. It got very mixed reviews and wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. I don't usually like Angelina Jolie at all. I find her very dramatic and samey in every film but this time she was actually really good. Being dramatic really helped in this film, especially for a role like that. Both Steve and I are big fans of Sharlto Copley so we really enjoyed him in this as well.

The Mummy & The Mummy Returns - "A Librarian and her brother seek the help of a soldier who knows the way to the ancient city of Hamunaptra when they accidentally awaken a Mummy, the fecking eejits. And in the second one their kid ends up wearing the Bracelet of Anubis which can help the bad guys find the way to awaken the Scorpion King and his army. Well done kid."

The Mummy and The Mummy Returns are both two of my favourite movies ever. I love them very much and have watched them countless times. They're just lots of fun and look great!

Don't look at his hideous face!
I, Frankenstein - "Frankenstein is very angry and annoyed with everyone and everything so goes and hides but there are people looking for him so they can use his undeadness and then he gets caught in this war between two different clans and just looks hideous throughout the whole thing with his disappearing and reappearing scars."

This got some of the worst reviews I've seen but it reminded me of Underworld. When Underworld came out people hated it and I'm pretty sure Empire gave it a 1 star out of 5 which was ridiculous because when I finally seen it, I loved it! I think it's a great movie so like Underworld I wanted to give I, Frankenstein a chance as it looked quite entertaining and I love me some monsters. It was quite meh in the end. I enjoyed it and it is in no way terrible and it did not deserve such negative reviews that it got, I've seen WAY worse. Alway spanish for I, Frankenstein is Yo, Frankenstein.

Emperors New Groove - "An animated Disney movie about an Emperor who gets turned into a Llama."

I can never fault Disney films I'm afraid! I love animations very much and can't fault them at all! This was lots of fun :)

The Thing - "Scientists in the Antarctic come across an Alien that can shape-shift into anyone it comes into contact with."

One of the greatest movies of all time and one of my all time favourites, if not my all time favourite movie. ALL TIME. A classic that everyone should see.

A Monster In Paris - "Two friends accidentally make a monster after messing in a mad scientist's lab."

Again with the animation! I loved it of course! :) It's quite a strange story and Sean Lennon (John Lennon's son) does some of the singing and it's wonderful!

Little Miss Sunshine - "A family trying to bring their daughter to a beauty pageant run into some troubles."

This is another one of my all time favourite movies. It's terribly sad but also so hilarious. Everyone is perfect in this film, even the VW van.

School of Rock - "A wannabe rock star pretends to be a substitute teacher so he can pay his rent when he realises he might be able to turn his class into a rock band."

Jack Black is so good in this and it's just hilarious! Even all the kids are great and don't get super annoying like most kids in movies! Ha! :D

Epic - "A girl is shrunk down to a teeny tiny size where she meets little people who are basically keeping nature going, I think, and she helps them try to save nature from these weird fungus creatures. Oh and there is talking snails."

Again another animation that was great and much better than everyone said! The slow motion dog and father had me in stitches! It is worth watching for that scene alone.

Look at all their beautiful photoshopped faces.
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - "Different characters (Supernatural and human) team up for a secret mission."

This is a film I tell everyone to watch because it is nowhere near as bad as everyone says. It's entertaining and lots of fun and I enjoy it every time I watch it. I do think it was one of those films that if it was made now, would have a bit better budget and would have actually gotten somewhere. I'm sad that there will never be a sequel.

Spirited Away - "A girl gets lost in a world of spirits, gods, witches and other monsters and must work in a bathhouse in order to save her parents who have been changed into pigs."

Spirited Away is a Japanese animated film by Studio Ghibli. What can I even say. This film is perfect. The animation, the artwork, the way it looks is just fantastic. It leaves you with a very nostalgic feeling I'd say? Quite sad but happy kind of feeling. Just so good.

Mud - "Matthew McConaughey is after being bold so he's hiding when two boys find him and try to help him in return that they get to keep a boat up a tree. It's a hell of a thing, a boat in a tree."

This is a slow burner of a movie but well worth sticking around for. Matthew McConaughey is amazing in this. I have no idea why he hasn't been doing movies like this all the time but whatever, he's doing them now and they're so very good. The two boys in this are also fantastic and you actually forget that they're acting. Reese Witherspoon is wonderful as well. So much so that Steve didn't even realise it was her. But honestly, from the boys parents, to uncle Michael Shannon, everyone is excellent in this. A must see.

Elysium - "In the future, the very rich live on a space ship above earth. The poor live on the very overpopulated and bleak Earth. Matt Damon takes on a mission to bring equality."

I think I've reviewed this before in one of my posts. Such an excellent movie. We got this on BluRay and it looks oh so very good! Matt Damon is surprisingly good in this. You also have the excellent Jodie Foster and the man that steals the show, Sharlto Copley who plays a very bad guy. I highly recommend!

The Fog - "There's something in the fog."

Like The Thing, this has such a simple but really effective story. A killer fog containing ghosts who are seeking revenge for their deaths starts to creep on a small fishing town. The atmosphere, the music, the creepiness, all so good! A classic must see.

Salem's Lot - "Two part tv movie about a writer who returns to his home town to write about a house he once had an encounter with and is sure it's the source of the strange goings on in the village."

The first part of this movie was so boring and it could have actually just been one movie had they not dragged out the first half so much. The second half though was really good and I enjoyed it very much. I'm a Starsky and Hutch fan so liked seeing David Soul in this but even more so because his character was actually frightened a lot of the time and not trying to be all hero like and hiding his fear and stuff. Top marks from me, Mr Hutch!

Hiding Out - "A successful stock broker is called to court to testify against a mob boss but when things go wrong he ends up hiding out as a student in a high school."

I watched this cos I'm a big fan of Jon Cryer's character Duckie in Pretty In Pink. Unfortunately, while this was entertaining, it most certainly wasn't as good as Pretty In Pink and was quite weird actually seeing as he falls for a high school girl and he's suppose to be nearly 30. So yeah that was weird. Why they couldn't have him fall for a teacher or something I don't know.

Real Steel - "Set in the future where robot boxing is all the rage, Hugh Jackman (a former boxer) thinking he is the man when he's actually not and is too cocky and owes the wrong kind of people money, is confronted with having to take care of his bright 11 year old son."

This was really excellent and I wish I had seen it sooner! It has a really great story, everyone is great in it and it has robots! :D

Dragon Hunters - "A french animation (I like my animations) about a girl who teams up with two Dragon hunters and their dog. At least I think it's a dog."

This film was weird. But a good kind of weird! The island they lived on floated... all the ruins, ancient cities and stuff float and it was strange! I did want to know more about the world and how it got that way though. I like the animation and even though the little girl got annoying at times, it was enjoyable!

---

Phew! I made it to the end! So that was all the films we watched in July. Sorry if it got a bit lacking at the end, I started to run out of steam! Let me know if there is any of those films you'd like to see and what have you been watching lately?!

Until my next post!

Lazer!!
