Tune Tuesday - Aishling's Picks

If you've read my last Tune Tuesday post you will know that I've moved Music Monday to Tune Tuesday for the moment until the Let's Talk Blog Challenge we're doing is over! Which will be sad because we've been having lots of fun doing the challenges!

I'm going to start with Clutch. Clutch are an amazing rock, blues, southern rock band from America and if you haven't heard them, you need to now. We were lucky enough to see them live on the 9th of May in Dublin at The Academy. It was amazing! Definitely one of the best gigs I've been too. My boyfriend Steve does a brilliant review of the gig here "Get Your Ass In Gear - Clutch @ The Academy, Dublin" (not for the faint hearted or easily offended I have to add :P) but you must read it for the awesomeness.

I'll start with Cypress Grove. This is my all time favourite song by them. I just looooove it.

Clutch - Cypress Grove

Clutch - Crucial Velocity

This song is one of the many amazing songs off their new album "Earth Rocker".

Clutch - Burning Beard

And lastly Burning Beard which was the first Clutch song I heard. Just awesome.

Neutral Milk Hotel - She Did A Lot Of Acid/Beautiful Baby

I am sure I've heard this song before sometime so I guess I could say I've rediscovered it. I've never listened to Neutral Milk Hotel and didn't even know what kind of music they made but I have to say I really like the sounds of this. I will definitely be checking out more of their stuff. This is an acoustic version of this song as far as I can tell, I think the original is a lot faster.

Mecca Normal - Ribbon

I have no idea who Mecca Normal are. I found this song when I went onto a page of someone on tumblr and they had one of those automatic music players (which I usually hate) and I really liked the sound of this song. It sounds just like Patti Smith! I was sure it was her but nope. The singers name is Jean Smith! So I was close haha! This video seems to be uploaded to her own account that she runs herself. I will definitely be listening to more of her stuff.

The Knife - Marble House

I just love The Knife and I love anything Karin Dreijer Andersson is involved with. Her voice and sound is just fantastic! I have no idea what kind of music you would call The Knife. Electronic I guess buts its a bit more alternative. This song is sooooo good.

Tori Amos - Crucify

I have nothing really to add here only I just really like this song.

Aaliyah - One In A Million (Urban Noize Remix)

This is someones remix of this song on YouTube. Don't worry their isn't much difference to the original song but enough to make me love this more. I just really like this song. It's nice and relaxing, especially in the nice weather.

Down - Conjure

Steve got some new musics from Down which I've been enjoying. If you haven't heard Down before, I highly recommend them especially if you like your metal or heavy musics. Down's lead singer is the amazing Phil Anselmo from Pantera and the rest of the band is made up of musicians from other bands. This song off their second EP I'm really liking. It sounds very like Black Sabbath and is just soooo awesome!

That's all for this week!
I hope you enjoy and let me know what you've been listening to recently :)

Thanks for reading (and listening)!

Tune Tuesday - Aishling's Picks

I have moved Music Monday to Tune Tuesday for the moment. Because both me and Kerrie are doing the Let's Talk Blog Challenge which has to be posted on a Monday. I didn't want to be posting too many things on the same day. So I've moved music to Tuesday's until the challenge is over :)

Now on to the musics!

JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound

I first watched this video because Aubrey Plaza is in it! I really like her in the awesome tv show Parks and Recreation and the films Safety Not Guaranteed and Scott Pilgram vs The World. It also stars Jake Johnson best known for being in New Girl (I've never watched it but that's what I know him from too!) He was also in Safety Not Guaranteed! The video is good but the song really grew on me! I really like it now and have to listen to more stuff my JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound. I especially like it for the good weather. Nice and summery!

Childish Gambino - Sweatpants ft. Problem

I am obsessed. OBSESSED. With this song and the next song I'm going to post from Childish Gambino. I saw the gifs of this video on tumblr and looked to see what new stuff he has and I have not stopped playing this album Because The Internet since. Especially these two songs. I'm playing this song on repeat as I write this. SO GOOD.

Childish Gambino - 3005

Onto the second song by Childish Gambino that I'm obsessed with. I listened to this right after Sweatpants and I love it just as much. The video is real good so be sure to watch it. It's sad and kinda creepy. (Pay attention to the people behind him.)

Mos Def - Close Edge

I started listening to Mos Def awhile back and OBSESSED I became. This song I heard before on Dave Chapelle's Show and it's amazing. He raps it while in the car. You can hear the album version here which is much better quality but I put up this one of them in the car cos it's just amazing.

Mos Def - Do It Now

I'm going to give you another Mos Def. This is what made me remember Close Edge and listen to more of his stuff. This song is crazy good and I loved it straight away and knew I was missing out. WHAT TOOK ME SO LONG. Listen now and don't make the same mistake I did.

FIDLAR - Cocaine

Not going to lie, I only watched this because Nick Offerman is in it with a beard. If you don't know who Nick Offerman is, you should. He plays Ron Swanson in Parks and Recreation (along side Aubrey Plaza!) and is amazing and totally steals the whole show. When I listened to this though I instantly loved the music. Very punk and very awesome. The video btw is very NSFW! But funny :P I then found out they have a video with Henry Rollins in it and that was it, I'm officially a fan if Henry is around. The video is made up of anti-drug ads.

Enslaved - Thought Like Hammers

Look at all those hairy lads there. Steve will be so proud of me for ending with this :P I really like this song and unbeknown to Steve I have been listening to this song a few times. When I first listened to Enslaved I wasn't too fond of the growly vocals but love the clean vocals. But Mr. Growly Vocals has grown on me. I especially like this song because of the parts with the clean vocals sound very like The Doves or Elbow or someone like that. It's very odd but excellent.

That's all from me!
Also you can follow my boyfriend Steve's blog here on Burn My Eyes. If you like movies, music, tv shows, video games and sarcastic, offensive humour, you need to be following him! Oh and funny gifs! He loves gifs.

Music Monday - Aishling's Picks

I will start this blog off with new Mastodon! Woo!

Mastodon - High Road

Steve played this new song the other day and I actually didn't know it was them because when I tuned into it I heard the chorus first. The chorus sounds like it could be from some 70s or 80s classic or progressive rock band. I can definitely see this being one of my favourite summer songs this year. Love it!

Lana Del Rey - West Coast

I'm slowly warming to Lana. She is very hyped and I find a lot of her songs over played but I listened and watched a good few songs and videos of hers and really liked quite a lots of them. I especially love her video for Ride (Song starts at around the 3 min mark. Bikers, yes please :P) This is her new one and I really do like it. It's very relaxing and nice for summer I think. The video (I don't think it's the official one even though I wish it was) is just repeating the same clip and I love it. It works well.

Arctic Monkeys - R U Mine

When I listened to this song first I went "meh" and cursed the title and said to myself "can they not spell?" Hahaa! :D Anyhow I decided to give it a second chance and then a third and then I couldn't stop playing it and I still can't. I love it!

The Black Keys - Little Black Submarines

This is by far my favorite song by The Black Keys. I never listened to them before and it really took me a long time to finally get around to listening to their album El Camino. The only thing negative I would say about it is so many of the songs are on ads so it kind of ruins it for me as I've heard bits of the songs so much already. But this song. That build up till half way. Just love it.

Brody Dalle - Blood In Gutters

Brody's new stuff is slowly coming out and oh my how I loves it. I do hope she tours here because I really want to see her live! She's bloody amazing.

Babes in Toyland - He's My Thing

I had Babes in Toyland on my old iPod but somehow they didn't end up on my new iPod so I'm rediscovering them again and I think I love them more now than I ever did. This song is one of my favourites!

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Sacrilege

I love this song so much. The video that goes along with it is just perfect. I love the editing style and its worth the watch just for that!

Nirvana - School (Live At Reading 1992)

I will end with Nirvana seeing as the 20th anniversary of Kurt's death wasn't long ago. I will never not be sad about the fact that I will never see them live. I've had this song stuck in my head a few times over the last while so I'll go with it. RIP Kurt.

I have been listening to lots more but if I included them this would be an endless list! What have you guys been listening to? Anything in my list that you like yourself?

I will have another blog post up very soon.
Thanks for reading & listening!

Music Moday #3

My first pick was inspired by recent flashback to 1997 when I head this song, one I had totally forgotten about!

Summertime by The Sundays, from there I was on a roll and here a few of my favourite songs from around '96/'97, it's so hard to choose, I could go on and on... In fact I may return with part II next week :D

Since I was a huge X-Files fan at the time, my 'Songs in the Key of X' tape would have been worn out! (note tape - I didn't upgrade to CD's till 98 as far as I know!) Red Right hand was my first encounter with Nick Cave.

Beck awesome as always.

White Town - Your Woman, remember them?!

Finally some Foo's!

Seeing as Kerrie has started a 90's theme, I'm going to follow with some of my favourite 90's songs! :)

Starting with Portishead's Glory Box. I happened to be listening to this while putting together Kerrie's picks! Sooooo good.

Can't be the 90's without Nirvana! School! This is an amazing recording (You can get it on DVD! I have it!) of a really awesome live gig.

Seen the Eels for the first time this year! Excellent live and I would highly recommend!

R.E.M. - It's The End Of The World.
I think I'm kind of cheating with this one as its off their 1987 album "Document" and released in the US in that same year but in the UK (And Ireland) it was re-released in 1991. So it just got in there for it :P It's definitely a 90's song for me. I remember listening to it and I also remember the video freaking me out for some reason? I guess because it, at the time, seemed very sad and dark but the song, even though it's about the end of the world, is very happy! Haha! Poor confused little me!

Rollins Band - Disconnect.
No, I didn't know Rollins Band in the 90's obviously. I think even up until 2000 I would have been far to young for the kick in the face that is Henry. Oh but do I wish I would have listened to him when I was in school around my teen times. But whatever he eventually found his way around to me and I couldn't go and post a 90's music blog without him :P

Music Monday

I might just get this blog post up before Monday ends. I was thinking of starting a Music Monday series! Better to start it now or I never will :P I hope you are enjoying all the posts today haha!

Mastodon - All The Heavy Lifting

I seen Mastodon not long ago and it was amazing! I battled my anxiety and was rewarded with a gig I won't forget soon. The Hunter was the very first album of theirs I listened to. I was told to listen to them by my boyfriend when we first met. I'm very glad he introduced me to them :P

The Growlers - Wandering Eyes

I think it was on tumblr that I seen this really lovely t-shirt that was for a band called The Growlers. I didn't want to get the t-shirt without listening to them first and I ended up really liking them. This song especially. Unfortunately I couldn't get the really awesome t-shirt because the shipping was CRAZY monies.

Amon Amarth - Deceiver of the Gods

New Amon Amarth yay! Another band my boyfriend introduced me to and I ended up loving. One of my favourite gigs I've been to as well! No idea why but I just really loved that gig. Probably all the beards.

So that's all for now because my laptop battery is about to die. I can't charge the stupid thing while I'm using it cos the charger is broken. Another Music Monday should be up next week! Until then, enjoy! :)
